Dave Phinney, Proprietor and Winemaker

The history of Dave Phinney ‘the Winemaker’, dates back to 1995 when, Dave took a friend up on an offer and went to Florence, Italy to spend a semester abroad. During that time, he was introduced to wine, how it was made, and had to know more. A few more years of university led to graduation and eventually a job at Robert Mondavi Winery in 1997 as a temporary harvest worker. Deciding that if he was going to work this hard, it would eventually have to be for himself, so in 1998 he founded his first wine brand with two tons of zinfandel and not much else. He spent the next decade making wine for others as well as himself and has now grown multiply companies into internationally renown brands. His international ambition with Locations Wine has led him to Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Corsica, Argentina and other locations around the globe. The vision here is to create the best possible wine that represents its Location across wine regions of the world. The intent is to make wine less complicated and remove restrictions that limit freedom and sense of expression. As such Locations purposefully blends across appellations to produce wine removing restrictions held within traditional winemaking circles. An ambitious project where innovation and freedom meet on a global journey of discovery, exploring the worlds Locations through wine.

Caine Thompson, General Manager
General Manager for Locations, Caine has held various roles, and leadership positions in the wine industry.  Prior to Locations Caine was Managing Director for Pyramid Valley Vineyards, one of New Zealand’s elite estates, producing compelling single estate wines from locations around New Zealand. Caine lead various projects and initiatives for New Zealand winegrowers, being Chairman of Hawkes Bay winegrowers research, Technical Officer for the Gimblett Gravels Association, along with various organic, plant health and precision viticulture projects across New Zealand.  Caine and business partner Dr Hayden Lawrence, founded New Zealand’s first precision Viticulture company Spatial Solutions, providing unique GPS tools and sensors for managing variation to improve wine quality across New Zealand vineyards. Caine is a trained Viticulturist holding this role while in Hawkes Bay for Alpha Domus and Mission Estate Wineries. Caine has completed an MBA to complement his Bachelor of Science and Honours Degrees. He is highly driven and determined, which are key characteristic that have led him to achieve such accolades as New Zealand Young Viticulturist of the Year, Horticulturist of the Year and Leadership New Zealand scholar.

Mick Roberts, National Sales Director
Mick has spent his whole professional career in the wine business. From his first job right out of school throwing cases for a distributor to his current role of National Sales Director. While studying Hotel & Restaurant Management at RIT, he realized during his last year that working all the nights and weekend in the hospitality business might not be the best career choice. Upon graduation, he started his journey in the wine business through E & J Gallo and their training program. Spending the first seven years of his career with Gallo/wholesalers in 4 different markets he cut his teeth learning the industry. After leaving Gallo, he worked for another large wine company, Constellation for four years focusing on on-premise. Looking for new challenges to continue his growth he started a career that lasted the past ten years with Aveniu Brands. During that time, he had a number of different roles including Mid-West Regional Manager, National Chain Account Manager, South Zone Director and Central Division Manager. These roles help prepare him for his current role with Locations Wine. Mick lives outside of Houston, TX with his wife Angela and their two kids Austin and Rachael.
Autumn Tello, Production and Marketing Director
A Napa native, Autumn joined the Locations team as a winemaking assistant during the 2015 harvest. Before transitioning into Winemaking, where she worked with premium wine brands in both the Napa Valley and Australia, quickly working her way up from Intern to Assistant Winemaker, Autumn held positions in Sales and Marketing, and Administration. She thrives on the dichotomy between innovative creativity and Standard Operating Procedures, and now combines her passion for all things art and organization, as our Production and Marketing Director, utilizing her studies in graphic design and winemaking, and over a decade of industry experience. Outside of the office, Autumn enjoys cooking healthy meals, yoga, backpacking and weekend excursions with her handsome Winemaker and their German shorthair, Callie.
Andrew StockBridge Western Regional/Chain Sales Manager
Born and raised in Northern California Andrew has worked in the Wine business for 16 years. Beginning in 2001 in the Pacific Northwest where Andrew launched a solo brokerage focused on small lot wineries and craft brewing. Roughly a year later, Andrew went to work for the Gallo Wine Co. progressing rapidly from Sales Representative to District Manager and then Area Sales Manager. In 2006, an opportunity arose with the luxury portfolio of Remy Cointreau USA managing the Independent Off Premise marketplace. 2009 marked an opportunity to take on a role managing the Regional and National Off Premise chain accounts for Remy Cointreau in the West. After 7 ½ years with Remy Cointreau; Andrew accepted a role as Director of National Accounts West with Pasternak Wine Imports (now Esprit Du Vin). Andrew brings a passion for National Accounts & Wholesaler partnerships to the role of West Regional/Chain Manager. When not working, Andrew enjoys camping in the Sierra’s with his Wife & two Sons and their miniature English Pointer – Pepper.
Mark Nairn, European Production Manager
Mark grew up on a cattle farm in Western Australia.
He was always going to be a cattle farmer until his father planted grapes and established a boutique winery and from there his fascination for wine developed.
After gaining a degree at Roseworthy Agrcultural college in South Australia he worked vintages in both Northern and Southern hemispheres for 6 years before taking a full time role with an English wine importing company making wines for them in many different countries including Portugal, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece, Cyprus, South Africa, California, Morocco. Mark worked in many different regions and with many different grapes varieties, learning a great deal from these varied experiences, meeting some fantastic people along the way.
In 2007 Mark was fortunate enough to be offered a job with the Codorniu family who have been making wines since 1551, to run their Raimat winery west of Barcelona which he did for 8 years. Mark is now heavily involved in the Locations wine team where again he gets to travel the world with Dave and be involved in wine production from various countries.
Ken Meyerson Eastern Regional/Chain Sales Manager
Ken has over 21 years of professional wine business experience. He started his career with Gallo/Premier Beverage in Miami, FL., where he held numerous sales and management roles. After 3 years, Ken decided to join the supplier side of the industry and moved to Chicago to become the Metro Mid-West Field/Region Manager for Paterno Imports, and a couple of years later moved back to FL as the Southeastern Field/Region Manager. As Ken wanted to continue to round out his sales skills, and gain vast knowledge and experience in all channels of the sales aspect of the wine industry, he took on a few different roles over the next 15 years with different sized suppliers. He began as the VA State Manager On-Premise for Gallo, VA/DC Market Manager with Diageo Chateau and Estates, and Mid-Atlantic Regional & Chain Manager with Ascentia Wine Estates. Then he moved into the National Account side of the industry, as the Director of National Accounts with Terravant, a Private Label company, then to V2 Wine Group as their National Retail Account Director, and most recently as the VP of National Accounts with Accolade Wines. The knowledge, experience, and relationships Ken has gained over his career has prepared him to lead the East for Locations Wine. Ken resides in Miami Florida with his two teenage sons.
